About Us

Serving Oxford County since 1989

United Way of Oxford County was formed in 1989, since then we have invested over $1.5 million into Oxford County. The Mission of United Way is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring powers of our community to advance the common good. We collaborate with over 17 partner agencies and 5 initiatives to help those in need in Oxford County. United Way focuses its efforts on Education, Financial Stability, and Health - we believe these are the three building blocks of a strong community. Learn more about our initiatives below.

Backpack Project

Through kind donations from LL Bean, the Rotary Club of Oxford Hills, and the John T. Gorman Foundation, United Way of Oxford County will distribute over 400 backpacks to kids in need in Oxford County. We also set up several collection sites around the county for a school supply drive. Volunteers help stuff the backpacks with the school supplies. The stuffed backpacks are distributed to each of the school districts in Oxford County. The district offices make sure the backpacks go to the kids in most need.

Food Pantry Project

The Food Pantry Project is a simple and easy way for businesses, schools, and groups to give back to their community. United Way of Oxford County comes and sets up portable shelving units at participating locations. Participating businesses, schools, or groups host a three-week food drive. At the end of the three weeks, United Way of Oxford County picks up the donations and shelves. All donations are then brought to a local food pantry.

Day of Caring
