Family Violence is the leading cause of serious injury to American women. Physical injuries suffered by many are only a part of the picture. Women and children suffer daily from emotional and verbal abuse. Controlling behaviors by their partner often greatly limit their life. Just like physical injuries are only part of the problem, our shelter and help-lines are only part of the solution. Women and children deserve to live quality lives full of potential and dreams where safety is a given not something that happens once in a while. Such a vision of community safety can only be achieved with community involvement.
