The organizations below describe just a few of the organizations your United Way contributions help.
OXFORD COUNTY 4-H: The Oxford County 4-H Program offers opportunities to Oxford County children ages 5 to 19 and is based on life skills, animals, cooking, crafts and a newly formed program working on Violence Prevention.
FAMILIES IN CRISIS TASK FORCE: The Purpose of the Families in Crisis Task Force is to provide a community cooperative approach to families and individuals in crisis and potential crisis situations. The Task Force also does USDA (Surplus) food distributions for a variety of rural areas in Oxford County. The Task Force also offers a number of programs as well as workshops and training on a number of different topics. This program is run entirely with volunteer staff or through pro?, grams such as Green Thumb (Seniors program) or ASPIRE (a DHS program) and Workforce Development (a youth program).
GOOD SHEPHERD FOOD BANK:
The Good Shepherd Food Bank is based in Lewiston, Maine and is the largest distributor of food supplies to local pantries, soup kitchens and community lunch programs in Maine. The United Ways through out the State of Maine have voted to make the Good Shepherd Food Bank a State wide affiliate, which will help ensure that a system of handling food supplies and distribution is well maintained and accessible to area food pantries making it easier for those in need to get help.
